All of our domestic tubs (120 volt, 60 Hz) are built to meet or exceed the UL-1563: Electric Spas, Equipment Assemblies and Associated Equipment standard, which is the applicable standard for our products. We are certified by ETL and our control numbers is 3037126 for our New Bedford, MA facility.
All of our tubs are also manufactured in accordance with ANSI/NSPI-6 1999: American National Standard for Portable Spas.Additionally, we also test our suction systems to ANSI/APSP -7: American National Standard for Suction Entrapment Avoidance in Swimming Pools, Wading Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and Catch Basins. What is a Softub made of? They look like they are they inflatable?
Softub stays the same size. No, they are not inflatable meaning they also do not deflate (which you would not want) Remember the kiddy pool? Also air is not a very good insulator. The Softub is made of space-age high-density foam that is extremely strong, yet lightweight and most of all unbelievably comfortable. You'll love the design that allows barrier free seating positions, not possible with any other hot tub. And you can easily move your Softub, anywhere you have an outlet/ inside or out.
How well does the vinyl surface hold up outside?
The vinyl is a very high marine-grade product that is designed to withstand the harshest climates and sun. Like any surface exposed to the UV rays of the sun it needs to be protected. We have several options to prevent sun damage and provide many years of "like new" appearance. Your Softub comes with a 5 year limited warranty. That means with simple, routine care, you can expect to get many years of service, indoors or out.
How much does the Softub cost to operate?
Softub spas are easy on the pocketbook. The average cost to operate a Softub spa outside, nationwide, is between $6 and $16 per month of course depending on climate, temperature and cost of electricity. That means you won't see a huge jump in your electric bill, as with most 240 volt 50 amp, hard tubs.
How does it heat without a heater?
With our revolutionary heat recovery system, which uses the heat created by the pump motor to heat the water. The operating cost of a Softub is a fraction of most acrylic spas. Plus a avoiding on-site service costs because of the easy to service detachable Hydro-Pack.
How hot does a Softub get?
Softub like all spas have a maximum thermostat setting of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a federally mandated maximum. You have a choice of the temperature between 80 and 104. Because you can afford to keep your Softub always hot even though it only runs a couple house a day to maintain the temperature you want. An affordable cost of operation means it's always ready to use. No need to turn it up and down like most spas because of fear of a big electric bill. Just flip open the cover, turn on the hydrotherapy jets and your ready to relax.
How do you treat the water?
We include a water treatment kit with every Softub spa that fully explains the treatment process. With our delivery we set-up your Softub and we fully explain the operation and the water treatment process. To make maintenance as simple as possible. Your Softub has a patented, fully automatic, ozone injection system that significantly reduces the amount of chemicals needed to keep your tub clean and sanitary. That means it takes less time-and less money to keep your tub sparkling clean. Typical maintenance supplies costs are about $ 10.00 per month.
How much do they weigh when full of water?
A 300 gallon Softub spa weighs 2,700 pounds, including the HydroMate and lid. That's about 300 to 900 pounds less than a comparable acrylic spa. You can place your Softub where not other spa can go. What kind of preparation is required to install a Softub spa?
The great news is that all you need is a reasonably level surface and a dedicated 115V 15A electric outlet. Unlike a big fiberglass spa which requires a perfectly flat steel reinforced concrete pad to support the heavy weight plus a 240V cut off panel that requires a city/county electrical permit.
Will I need an electrician or plumber to hook it up?
A garden hose is all you need to fill your Softub with water. If you have a low voltage electrical outlet or no outlet within 12 feet of where you want to put your Softub. You may need to hire a licensed electrician. Extension cords are discouraged.
